Translational Core Laboratory (TCL), FOM, UM (Members of CRL)

Translational Core Laboratory (TCL) aims to provide a comprehensive platform to promote and encourage translational research among clinicians and basic scientists. At its main location at Level 11 of Paediatric Block Women's & Children's Health Complex (KKWK) at Universiti Malaya Medical Center, TCL houses equipment commonly used in biomedical research, including mammalian cell culture, microscopy imaging, molecular biology and freezer storage facilities. TCL embraces the open laboratory concept where all facilities are accessible to users who also have dedicateed laboratory bench space. Staffs are available on site to guide new users when using these equipment.

TCL strives to create innovative programs with academic and industrial partners to bring in value-added services to UM research community and beyond. Some of our major partners are Thermo Fisher Scientific (Malaysia), Tessa Therapeutics, AvantiCell Science PLT, and many more. Working together, TCL is also offering the following services:

1. Individual and small group laboratory skills training for clinical samples handling and processing, cell culture, as well as molecular and cellular biology research techiques, are available to students and research staffs in academia and industries.
2. Educational seminars and hands-on workshops on new research tools and techniques, in the effort to disseminate emerging concepts in biomedical research.
3. Laboratory work services to clinicians and industries who require laboratory support in their clinical research programs.
